Japan Or East LA In The 70'S

Most of you know that Lowriding is nothing new in Japan, and that they are not just starting out. They have taken what was created here and preserved the  look and style of cars from the early days of Lowriding. They emulated what they saw in Lowrider Magazine and adopted a whole lifestyle culture and dress that was in  the magazine. I have been a fan of their cars for a while and I can appreciate the work that they put into their cars. When you factor in the cost of the car, sometimes having to ship it to Japan from the US registration paint parts etc etc it is not a cheap hobby for them. But they keep it going, and just like a lot of things American that they like, they do it right and sometimes even better? all of the pictures were borrowed from Local Hero Japan

Natural Disaster

A magnitude 8.9 earthquake struck Japan causing a Tsunami and releasing a 23 foot wave. These are some of the first images to come from the area struck hardest by the quake. Cars and houses thrown around like toys and fires burning through entire nieghborhoods. If you have read this blog you know how I follow Kustom Kulture in Japan and have talked to a few people from there thru e mail. My thoughts and prayers go out to them during this very difficult time. Japan is at a stand still right now, trying to come to grips with what happened. Mother Nature is a strong mean Bitch, when she wants she can cause some serious frikin damage

Mooneyes Yokohama Show

Just a few shots from Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod & Custom Show. Toshide aka The Local Hero posted these on the H.A.M.B and on his blog. At this show the guests of honor drive into the hall where the show is held. Photographers line each side of the lane like papparazi at some Hollywood movie shindig.Last 2 pics are Kirk Hammets (Metallica Guitar player) ride, with King Cole behind the wheel. I have asked Cole what it is like to drive into that hall and be treated like a rock star. He just smiled and said-"Bro, you have no idea how emberassing it is, I just build cars I am no rock star". Gotta love King Cole
